After the Rain Script Teaser
TEASER
BEGIN BLACK:
NARRARATOR
Once, long ago, a reckless society
destroyed itself. Out of the ruins came tribes of builders and leaders,
and the rebirth of civilization begun. Hard for me to imagine that
I was one of those builders; one of those leaders. But I was.
This is my story.
FADE IN:
1 EXT. RUINS - DAY
Covered in scratches and bruises, a young man awakens in the middle of nowhere. Injured, he rises slowly. As soon as he puts weight on his left leg, however, it gives out. He examines it, finding a gaping wound. He tears off cloth from his shirt and wraps it around the gash. Finding a stick to double as a cane, he sets off.
No sign of civilization can be seen in any direction, only the ruins of a society that recklessly destroyed itself. Breathing heavily, he continues on, seemingly searching for something. It’s deathly quiet, as though he is the only living thing left on the planet.
Suddenly a sound. Snapping his head around, he sees nothing. As he turns around to proceed something catches his foot and he stumbles. Unable to keep his balance, he begins to tumble down the bank uncontrollably. Lucky to keep his life, his fall ends on something soft. Curious as to what saved him from more injury, he removes branches and leaves to uncover exactly what he was searching for, but not exactly how he would have hoped. The barely recognizable body of his former best friend lay dead beneath him.
